Breast Cancer -
42-year-old female
History
42-year-old female with a history of breast carcinoma. Stage I (T1c N0) versus II A (T2 N0) infiltrating ductal carcinoma of the lower quadrant of the right breast, treated with lumpectomy, AC and Taxol chemotherapy and intact breast radiation therapy. Tumor was reportedly ER/PR and HER-2/neu negative. Abnormal mammogram with some microcalcifications in the site of her previous excision. Stereotactic biopsy did not revel any malignancy at the time. No history of diabetes, myocardial infarction or hypertension. Distant history of smoking less the ½ pack-per-day for 20 years, but quit when diagnosed with breast cancer.
PET Findings
There is an abnormal increased uptake of radioactivity in the posterior and lateral aspect of the right breast near the chest wall, suspicious for local recurrence of malignancy. Additionally, there is at least two foci of abnormal increased uptake of radioactivity in the posterior and medial aspect of the right lobe of the liver. Normal radioactivity is demonstrated in the kidneys and urinary collecting system. There is no abnormal radioactivity in the retroperitoneum or in the lungs. Osseous structures appear to be intact. Patient has no other history of malignancy and no other antineoplastic therapy. There is no known connective tissue disorders.
