2001 Product Line Strategy Award
Frost & Sullivan presents the 2001 Product Line Strategy Award
for the dedicated PET market to CTI PET Systems Inc.
CTI PET Systems (CPS) has clearly demonstrated an understanding of customer
needs by developing a broad and innovative product line. CPS has been the pioneer
of most major innovations within the dedicated PET market including the
introduction of the first commercially available PET scanner in 1976. Often they
have used their pioneering status to be the first to market for a number of
technological innovations, such as offering the first BGO PET scanner
for less than $1 million in 1994. Their product line encompasses four products
within the full range of Tier 1,2 and 3 products. These products include the low-end
ECAT ART with an estimated price of $800,000, the most commonly installed
scanners in the U.S, the Exact and Exact HR+ and the latest high-end
offering, the ECAT Accel. The ECAT Accel is expected to take see strong
sales growth with throughput times as fast as 20 minutes. CPS' extremely broad
product line facilitates entry into all end-user segments of the market including
academic and community hospitals, freestanding imaging and PET clinics as well as
mobile PET providers. CPS has leveraged their product line further by entering into
strategic or distribution alliances with Siemens and Marconi. These relationships
demonstrate well executed business development and have allowed them to create the
largest installed base in the U.S. among all PET manufacturers.
